30 Dec Winter Opera Memphis Wedding | Katy + Eric
We are so excited to share our final wedding of 2015 with you today! We had such a great year, and this winter Opera Memphis wedding did not disappoint. Katy and Eric said their vows only six days before Christmas, so their whole day was filled with cheery reds and glittery golds, perfect for the holiday season! It was an unseasonably warm, bright, day, which made our job as photographers super easy. Read on to see all the beautiful holiday touches, as well as a very touching father-daughter dance!
Katy and Eric are the kind of couple we love, probably because they are very similar to us! They are mad about each other and prioritize the things that matter. Katy made sure to get a First Look with not only her groom, but her dad and her grandmother as well! Like us, Family (with a capital “F”!) tops all. She knew this day was partly about letting go, and she was not afraid to give into emotion. But she and Eric are also goofy, and love to have fun! We laughed for all of our portrait time with them, and that made it so much fun. I could hang out with these two all day, wedding or not!
Lucky for us, Katy is very organized. She was an absolute dream bride! She worked very closely with us during the entire planning process to make sure that we would get time for all the photos we needed, but still be able to stretch the reception as long as possible. These were two lovebirds who were ready to party! I love that about them! Katy had all her things ready in a bag for me to photograph when we arrived in the morning. She even included some matching ribbon and extras to dress up her photos. I love starting the day with lots of pretty to play with!
Katy’s mom added special “bling” to her shoes to get them wedding-ready!
Katy had the best girls! They were all so much fun (and gorgeous!), and made our day so easy. How much do you love these plaid shirts for a Christmas wedding?? Katy’s had her wedding date and “I Do” on the sleeves.
The light at Opera Memphis this day was magical!
Katy was a stunning bride! Everything was perfect for her – the dress, the hair, the makeup. She looked gorgeous!
Meanwhile, Eric was getting ready to see his bride.
I hereby give all our grooms permission to wear Lego cufflinks on their wedding day!!
Katy had a special, private First Look with her dad before seeing Eric for the first time. He was overjoyed at the sight of his daughter!
And Eric was equally awed at the sight of his bride!
We roamed around in the perfect sunshine for portraits. After moving to Michigan to be with Eric, Katy doesn’t get to see the sun much these days, so she was extra thankful for a bright day!
Katy wore her mother’s veil, and I LOVED that! I always say, if you’re going to wear a veil, go all the way! The wind was extra-special nice to us this day!

The girls were beyond awesome this day. I loved all this red for a December wedding!
And the guys were all so handsome!

Opera Memphis looked amazing all dressed up for the reception! L & Jay Productions did an awesome job with all the florals. I love it when a reception starts when there’s still a little light left outside!

Like I said earlier, Katy and Eric were ready to party, and party they did! We always love working with the Soul Shockers, and they kept the party going!

Katy and Eric, we can’t thank you enough for allowing us to share in your special day! There’s no one else we would have rather ended the year with. I can’t wait to hear all about Cancun!
