02 Oct Vintage Victorian Fall Wedding Inspiration
The next wedding we want to showcase for our fall wedding inspiration week is Addie and Matt’s vintage Victorian fall wedding. This formal wedding had some of the most gorgeous florals! It’s much different than the rustic woodland wedding we highlighted yesterday. The colors are not your typical fall colors, and Addie had a more vintage style. These are some of the reasons I loved it so much!
Addie chose a color palette of soft pinks, bright purples, then tied it all into fall with dark plums and reds. Her bouquet was absolutely stunning, and I will always adore her purple Kate Spade shoes! She used lots of lace, doilies, antique silver containers, and lavender to really bring the vintage look home. Since they were married early in the month of November, the light still had that low, soft quality that I love so much about autumn. The leaves had changed color and provided the perfect fall backdrop!
To take advantage of the early sunset in November, Addie and Matt had an afternoon lunch wedding and reception. This meant that we could get all their photos done while it was still light outside. I love that they made their photography a priority! In fact, they had their First Look shortly after sunrise, so their portraits still had the same golden quality that sunset would have given us.
And now for a coordinating drink recipe! I knew right away that I wanted to suggest something with plums as the signature cocktail to go perfectly with this wedding. Signature cocktails are such a fantastic way to really tie your personalities and style into a wedding. They really say a lot about the bride and groom, and it is a special way for guests to enjoy themselves.
This vintage Victorian fall wedding called for something a bit formal and fancy. It also needed to be something that would be good served at a lunch or brunch wedding. I adore a good Sangria, so I thought it would be the perfect choice to match our inspiration! The plum color ties in perfectly with the more purple tones of the wedding.
I found this recipe on Sugar and Charm, and it looked perfect! I’ve been wanting to try some Apothic wine, and this recipe looked easy enough, even for me!
Black Plum Sangria
- 1 bottle Apothic Dark
- 2 cups organic blackberries, washed
- 4 black plums, washed and sliced
- 1/4 cup brandy
- 2 cups black grapes, washed
- 1 cup sparkling water if you desire, but you don’t have to if you want a strong wine taste.
Add everything into a pitcher and mix with a large spoon.
Let it sit in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 hours. The longer it sits the darker the plums becomes. Best to keep sangria in the fridge. Enjoy!!!
