08 Mar Colorful Arkansas Plantation Wedding
I think it’s safe to say that until this day, we had never met a groom that was this excited to marry his bride! He beamed. He laughed. And yes, he cried. He cried big, unabashed, joyful tears that he was not ashamed to have streaming down his face. When he first turned around and got his first glimpse of her, he broke down, sobbed into her shoulder, and then looked at her and said, “you are just as beautiful as I knew you would be.” She stroked his face and hugged him hard. Together, they held each other and promised to love each other forever, before the vows were even said. They set the tone for their colorful day – a day full of love, promises, faith, and beauty. Insane beauty! Wendy made the loveliest bride, and David’s devotion to her was just as delightful to witness. What a way to start our 2016 wedding season!
This was a very noteworthy wedding for Ed and I. The first wedding of the year is always a special occasion, but this time, the bride is the daughter of one of our good friends! It’s such an honor to document a wedding day, but to have the trust of a personal friend means so much to us!
As friends, we got to be a part of a few behind-the-scenes events that we don’t normally attend. Ed even got to go to the bachelor party! Then, the evening before the wedding, David’s dad pulled out a bottle of wine for toasting. Each of the children in his family received a bottle of this port with a special label of endowment, to be opened on their wedding day. David’s 23-year-old bottle was opened with much circumstance, decanted into a lovely crystal bottle, and poured among all the guests. We all took turns sipping the heavenly liquid while sisters, brothers, moms, dads, and friends celebrated the joining of their families. It was then that we knew we were in for a very memorable wedding day!
Wendy and David, everyone who witnessed your vows or knew you before the big day knows what a very special, faithful relationship you share. We are so blessed to have been a part of it, and we can’t wait to see where life leads you! Or rather, where you lead life. Because you two are the kind of people who others follow and long to emulate. We consider ourselves so lucky to be among them! We love you both!
All of Wendy’s details were carefully selected to bring out her personal style and love of color! She made each of the bouquets herself, carefully constructing all the fabric flowers by hand.
The bridesmaids were all given individual monogrammed plaid shirts, and they watched and laughed with Wendy as she dressed.
Wendy, you make such a stunning bride!
Meanwhile, David was preparing to see his bride, with much anticipation!
Wendy and David chose to see each other before the ceremony, and their First Look was so sweet! We all knew he would burst into tears, and he did not disappoint!
Secretly, we were hoping for snow on their wedding day, but the weather surprised us with full sun and warm 70’s temperatures instead! Now that it’s over, I wouldn’t have had it any other way. The day was bright and warm, but it made for beautiful portraits!
Ed took this one, and I’m jealous! It’s one of my favorites.
The ladies all wore mismatched dresses which tied Wendy’s colorful wedding scheme together beautifully!
I love these colors!
Everyone in the bridal party was a couple, with Wendy and David being the last to marry. This is a very special group of family and friends!!
A sweet moment between Wendy and her dad before walking down the isle.
The wedding venue was beautifully decorated for the ceremony. David failed to hold it together when Wendy made her way down the isle. This was one of the sweetest ceremonies we’ve ever seen!
He’s going to kill me for posting all these photos of him crying, but it was just so awesome to see how much David truly loves Wendy.
There was laughter too!
Wendy and David are one of our dream couples! They made sure to make extra time for more portraits when the sun was a little lower. I love these so much!
Another favorite from Ed’s camera.
LOVE! Oh Wendy. You are too gorgeous for words.
Wendy and David used paper airplanes for their exit, and we loved it!
By far one of the best cake
smashing cutting we’ve seen in a long time! They were such good sports!
Wendy changed into a shorter dress for their exit, and David made their final kiss unforgettable!
Wendy and David, words cannot express how awesome it was to get to know you. I know we will all remain friends for a long time! Enjoy the cruise, and we can’t wait to hear all about it when you get back!
A special thank you to everyone who made this day so beautiful!
