20 Aug the day i forgot my camera.
We had the car packed to maximum. For a one night stay. But that’s how it is with four kids. Halfway out of town, I realized I forgot my camera. My camera. That’s like forgetting my right arm. Instead of weeping (like I really felt like doing), I decided to embrace the common adage (at least among photographers):
the best camera is the one you have with you.
I shot all my memories of those next two days with my iphone. It helped me to really concentrate on the purpose of photography: capturing memories. I may have not been able to control the exact aperture, shutter speed, and white balance, but I still have photos. Of my family. Enjoying a rare weekend out of town. Together.
Here’s to the camera you have with you. And embracing life. With all that you have. Cheers!
