state of the union: my new office. almost.

Okay, so it’s just paint. But I promised an after picture. This is really an after paint picture. The rest of the room isn’t even close to done. Obviously.

This room was originally intended as a formal living room. We don’t do formal. After we moved in, we used it as our formal dining room instead (because the original dining room was tiny. See next photo). But we don’t do formal. And we never used it. I wanted a more open office space where I didn’t feel closed off in a tiny room, so I moved my workspace and some seating into it. But I didn’t consider that the window right behind my computer monitor would make editing…. difficult, to say the least. And it didn’t have the calm feel that I wanted.

So office makeover has begun! After my paint sob story from yesterday, the entire room is now fully painted. And I love it! The color, anyway. I have big plans for the rest of the room, but it will have to wait until we get back from next week’s travels.

Please excuse my mess. We were up until 2am painting, and were too tired to return the room to its original state. Besides, this will make the after that much more dramatic!

Office Makeover Before This is the other side of the room, once intended as a dining room. Seriously? You want me to put a table for 8 in there? Uh, no. So we used it as a sitting room we lovingly dubbed the “Internet Cafe” and a music room (there’s a piano on the other wall). This is the room I hope to put my new desk. We’ll see how that works out when I start rearranging furniture.

Office Makeover Before Stay tuned!

We’ll be out of town all next week, but I hope to post our adventures as they happen.

Here’s to exposing your mess. Even the dust pile you failed to throw away. And new paint. Cheers!
