my new fitness journey.

I’m finally taking control of my health.

Weddings are a workout. A typical wedding has Ed and I on our feet for 10-12 hours straight. Most of that is walking, running, squatting, or dancing. We don’t sit down. We usually don’t eat. The adrenaline keeps us going. But the next day, we can’t move.

I got tired of being tired. I want to have energy to run around during the week after my kids. I want to have energy to do family things after work hours, instead of just sitting on the sofa. I want to be able to give 110% to my clients and my family. Not to mention, it would be nice to look good in a bathing suit again!

For the last 8 weeks, I have been eating clean and working out every day. I am lifting weights and growing muscle. I’m actually learning to enjoy my HIIT (high intensity interval training) cardio. I’m running outside, spending time with deer, squirrels, and my thoughts. I’m soaking in the changing seasons.

Home Gym Setup (1)

So far, I’ve lost 8 pounds. But most of all, I feel better! I am happier. I have more energy. I’m making time for the important things. I’m taking care of myself. I still have a long way to go. This is a lifestyle change, not a fad, “diet”, or temporary fix. I want to be the best me I can be, and live a long, healthy life.

Home Gym Setup (2)

For now, I work out at home. We have a pretty good gym set up in the corner of our garage. And yesterday, we bought a squat rack. I’m actually excited about a squat rack! Over the next few months (after our 2013 wedding season ends), we’re going to be giving the gym a makeover. It needs to be cleaned up and organized. I want to add mirrors (God forbid!), and some paint to make it a happy place. I’ll keep you posted!

This is just the beginning.

Here’s to better health. And muscles. And energy to do the things you love! Cheers!
