11 Jul Magic Hour at Sunset: Mexico Beach Portraits
I don’t know what it is about sunset, but I think most of us agree that it’s by far the most magical time of the day. I’m pretty sure Instagram is 80% sunset photos. Ed and I are probably guilty for half of that. But I don’t even care. Sunset is gorgeous, especially here in Mexico Beach! Add in a beautiful girl, and you have the makings of some perfect Mexico Beach portraits.
You know what else I love? Oat grass. Yes, the water at the beach is beautiful, but I almost always prefer a backdrop of Oat Grass. It adds movement. It’s sculptural and natural, and I love it when the sun peeks through the blades.
We took Jessie out to the beach during sunset the other day for some portraits. I have tons of photos of the beach here, but I am a people photographer! I am happiest when I am taking pictures of people. Jessie is always willing (and sometimes insistent) to be my model. She makes the beach even more beautiful.
Naturally, we have to do some dance poses!
I mean, seriously. Have you ever seen a sunset so gorgeous? This is what it looks like every day here. I’m moving.
I love it when Alex jumps in for a few. He’s always close by, playing in the water or sand.
I trained her well, right?
How lucky am I to have this classic beach beauty for my Mexico Beach portraits? I can never have too many photos of my children. Maybe that’s why I have so many! So I always have someone to take a picture of.
Here’s to sunsets. And beach portraits. And a willing model.
Cheers!
Sarah
