i am the second shooter. {by Ed}

I’m admitting this right off the bat…  I’m nervous!

This is my first blog post ever, and I have no idea where to begin.  The purpose of this post is to introduce myself to the world (well, to whoever reads this post, which could be the whole world 🙂 ).  I am Amy’s husband, Ed, and I am her second shooter for all weddings, and for anything extra that gives me a reason to pick up my camera.  Speaking of my camera, I never thought I would own something so powerful…  more on that in a minute.

Amy and I have been married for almost 17 years (May 17th) and have four beautiful children, which I’m sure all of you already know by now.  What you don’t know is the following:

1.  I am an only child, born and raised in the little town of Cleveland, MS.

2.  Even though my parents didn’t have much extra money, I went to private schools, had my first motorcycle at age 7, and even had a pony – and yes, Amy loves to point that out, because I’m really not spoiled in any way, I promise 🙂

3.  My favorite sport in school was track.  I was a sprinter, and was the fastest in the state of Mississippi, for 2A private schools at least.  I’m still proud of that fact.

4.  My first brand new vehicle was a Nissan pickup, which I promptly lowered and made it one of the loudest in my town.  Yes, I was THAT guy!

5.  My day job is a computer programmer for International Paper in Memphis, TN.

Since you are now thoroughly intrigued and are begging for more, I promise that I will tell you more as I continue to blog.  I will be trying to blog once a week from a second shooter, as well as personal, perspective.

Amy Hutchinson Photography - Second Shooter

Yeah, that’s me up there.  Standing on the beach, which I have learned to appreciate more from my wife, with my shades, that I don’t wear near enough, and my oh-so-favorite lens, the 70-200 telephoto.  I didn’t travel much as a kid, and hardly ever to a beach, so when Amy described what she felt while on the beach, I knew I had to get to know it better.  And now, we go to the beach at least twice a year, if not more.

Amy Hutchinson Photography - Second Shooter

In wrapping up this short introduction, I must say that I am excited to be doing this blogging thing.  Photography has found a place in my heart and it truly excites me to be able to do it.  I’ve never been a real creative person, but photography gives me an avenue to pursue.  My craft projects were never polished, my drawings were ok, but nothing crazy good, and I could never write well.  Matter of fact, there’s probably many grammatical errors that Amy will laugh at me for later, but that’s all in the fun of it.

Thank you for giving me this chance to share and I hope you return to get to know me better, and to laugh at my writing mistakes!

Live. Laugh. Love. And don’t forget to smile!

Oh wait!  I forgot to tell you about my camera!  It doesn’t matter what kind it is or how much it costs.  What matters is that I can freeze emotion and relive that moment whenever I want.  And that is what I want to give a bride and groom as a wedding present.  Now go and freeze your own emotions!
