Favorite Blogs

the best blog reader and some of my favorite blogs

I’m not usually a creature of habit, but there are some routines I stick to daily. One thing I love to do every morning when I wake up is sit in bed and read. It helps me relax and get ready for the day (and let’s face it – keeps me in bed just a bit longer!). Ed is the one who reads the news and keeps me abreast of world events, but I have a (rather long) list of favorite blogs that I read daily. It’s my way of not feeling so isolated from the rest of the world.

There are blogs about everything! I am a blogger myself, so I love to read what other bloggers have to say about things I’m interested in, like interior design, gardening, fitness, photography, and scrapbooking. It’s also a great way to get ideas and inspiration. I often pin photos on Pinterest from the blogs I read, and all the information is (usually) free!

My Favorite Blog Reader

I almost always read blogs on my iPad, so for a long time I was in search of the perfect blog feed reader app. I finally found one that I love! Feedly has all the features I was looking for:

  • free
  • easy to use
  • displays articles graphically with photos
  • able to categorize
  • easy to share articles via social media

I’m a photographer, so I’m a visual person, and I just love the way Feedly looks when you open it up:

It’s super easy to search for blogs, and add them to the categories that you create. There’s no limit on the amount of categories you can have, and this was a big feature for me. I also love that you can browse for blogs just by searching for a topic. Easy to find lots of great reading!

My Favorite Blogs

I have lots of blogs that I read daily, but here are some of my favorites:

And since we’re on the subject of reading, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that I use my iPad for reading books too, though I usually save that sort of reading for right before bed. I love reading on my iPad, because I can read in the dark (on night mode), then just turn it off when I’m ready to go to sleep. It saves me from having to get up and turn off the bedroom lights. I’m all about staying in bed as long as possible!

I get most of my books from the iBooks store, but I also occasionally use the Kindle app to share books with my kids (they have Kindles). Here’s a sampling of some good things I’ve read lately:

Favorite Reader

Do you have any favorite blogs? Any good books I need to read? I read constantly and I’m always looking for something new, whether blog or book! Share your favorites in the comments! Also, if you have a reader that you love, tell me about it! And then add my blog feed to it 😉

Here’s to reading. And feeling connected. And getting ideas.

The best blog of course is mine! Ha, kidding. I pretty much only read food blogs, and I just adore like.. Minimalist Baker, Pinch of Yum, Nutrition Stripped, Green Kitchen Stories.. all the good healthy stuff! I love Feedly, too. My favorite!
