doing it anyway.

I’ll be honest. I am not a fan of dying eggs. It’s messy, it consumes a whole evening, and it’s a waste of a dozen eggs. But I’ll be doing it anyway. As a parent, it’s one of the lesser evils. And besides, Easter is all about sacrifice.

On the bright side, I do like seeing what my kids come up with – we’re color mixers over here. No solid eggs for us!

As Catholics, this is the most important church week for us. As my kids complain about about having to go for three nights in a row, we’re trying to instill in them the real meaning behind Easter. And hope that one day they will understand that there are some people willing to do anything for others. And that there are things more significant than that fight they had with their friend, getting an A on that test, or even what college to go to.

Whether you’re religious or not, make this weekend about somebody else. Even if it means staying up late to make a mess in your kitchen with your kids and 12 boiled eggs. Here’s to sacrifice. And significance. And putting color in your life. Cheers!
