04 Sep nicole + trey: promised. a downtown memphis engagement.
Nicole and Trey have known each other since high school, when she would watch him out of the corner of her eye every Fall afternoon. He played football, and she played the flute. They would share the field and occasionally make eye contact and exchange flirty smiles, but it wasn’t until after Trey graduated that he finally asked her out.
If Nicole thought that it took Trey forever just to ask her out, then the proposal, years later, followed in true Trey fashion. It was during a trip to Chicago that Nicole was sure would put a ring on her finger. She packed all her cutest outfits and spent extra time on her hair and makeup everyday. She wanted to be sure that when the big moment came, she would look her best! But while they did plenty of sightseeing and romantic dinners out, there was no proposal.
So Nicole gave up. He wasn’t going to propose after all. On the last day of their trip, she was agitated and disappointed. Trey had gotten her up early for breakfast, and she just wanted to sleep in. But he dragged her out of bed, and she threw on some comfortable clothes, and stuck her hair in a ponytail. She was past trying to look cute for a proposal that wasn’t coming. So naturally, that’s when Trey proposed! Their breakfast turned out to be a private affair at the top of the Sears Tower, where Trey finally got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife.
Nicole barely had time to take down her ponytail and fluff her hair before saying yes and getting a waiter to take their picture. She finally had her ring, and she had the love of her life. Suddenly, that’s all that mattered!
Ed and I met Nicole and Trey downtown in Memphis for their fun engagement session. These two took no time at all to get warmed up to the camera!
Nicole, you are a stunner! Trey knows he is marrying up.
Flight is Nicole and Trey’s favorite Memphis restaurant. It’s very important to them, and the place they will have their rehearsal dinner. So we made sure to get some photos there!
After a change of clothes (and shoes!), we made our way down to the river for sunset.
These two have style for days!
You gorgeous thing, you!
Trey has one of the best laughs! But he can do serious oh-so-well too.
Love this shot that Nicole threw Ed’s camera!
Nicole and Trey, thank you so much for being so awesome! And for hanging out with us for an evening. Your story is priceless, and I can’t wait for the wedding (which will incorporate several nods to Chicago)! I know our fun has only just started!
Here’s to patience. And Chicago. And an early breakfast that ended with a ring. Cheers!
