25 Jun kimel + greg: promised: a memphis military engagement

Greg was shy. He was so shy, he could barely say two words to Kimel when he met her. When a friend introduced them, she tried to engage him in conversation but soon gave up when she thought he wasn’t interested. In fact, she thought he was a jerk, albeit a good-looking jerk. So when the friend told Kimel that Greg wanted her number, she was surprised to find out that Greg thought she was the most beautiful woman he had ever met.

She turned over her phone number, but it was Facebook that Greg used for conversation instead, still too shy to talk with Kimel in person. Finally, she bluntly asked him if he was ever going to call her. So Greg gathered his courage, called Kimel, and asked her to go ice skating with him. Kimel agreed. She was a little clumsy, but determined, on the ice, and afterward they spent all night talking at dinner. Once Greg finally opened his mouth, Kimel found that she liked him very much.

Although they are complete opposites, they are perfect together. Kimel’s mom said it best after seeing them together when she told Kimel, “Now I get it. He balances you.”

Greg is still on active duty in the Army, so we had to carefully plan their engagement session. We were able to fit it in on his last trip home, and Ed and I met them both in Overton Square for their photos. They wanted to include a nod to Greg’s Army service, so he wore his fatigues for their military engagement session. Kimel added some contrast with her pink dress and heels. I absolutely loved it!

Because Greg spends so much time away on duty, he and Kimel are sure to take advantage of any time spent together. They are so great together!

After a change of clothes, we headed downtown for sunset on the river.

Greg’s one request was a photo with the Mississippi River bridge in the background. He has an iPhone photo that he and Kimel took at the bridge that he carries with him when he’s away. When he gets homesick, it’s looking at that photo that makes him feel better. We were more than happy to upgrade this very special photo!

Kimel and Greg, thank you so much for sharing a very valuable evening with us! We loved getting to know you better and learning your story. It’s so easy to see how perfect you are for each other! I can’t wait for the wedding!
