23 Sep Mia + Rico | Downtown Memphis Engagement
Mia and Rico have a plan. They’re separated right now, only by distance, while Mia studies and works hard at her grad school degree in Nashville. Rico remains in Memphis, working and saving his pennies for the future. They are smart, and they have a 4-year plan. When Mia graduates, they will be ready to share a whole new life together, wherever it may lead them!
Rico is the brother of Mia’s best friend, but she had not given him a second thought until she found herself alone in downtown Memphis one day. He was the only person she knew in the city, so she looked him up and gave him a call. That’s all it took!
On one of their first dates, they walked along the river bluffs, and Rico, completely smitten with Mia, told her that he would marry her one day. She thought he was crazy, but couldn’t help being drawn in by his sincerity and warmth. Little did she know that he would turn out to be right. Ed and I didn’t know it when we were planning the session, but we ended with sunset at the very same spot for their engagement photos!
Mia and Rico love the culture and urban vibe that downtown Memphis offers, so we started the session near the theater and surrounding areas. They were pros right away!
I love the sweetness of this shot…
But I think I love the laughter of this one even more! Plus, it proves that I’m funny. 😉
We had too much fun playing with reflections and leading lines!
Yes, they’re this cute all the time!
I always love a splash of color for engagement photos!
We timed it perfectly for sunset along the river. This is the very walkway where Rico told Mia that he would one day marry her. How awesome is it that we returned to the same spot for engagement photos??
Work it, Mia! This girl is so easy to photograph!
Love that glow of the sun!
I promise this was NOT my idea! When my clients endanger their lives for the sake of the shot, they do so of their own accord. I do love how it turned out, though!
This is so very downtown Memphis, and I love it.
Mia and Rico, thank you so much for hanging out with us for a beautiful evening along the river! We’re so bummed that we’re going to miss the wedding, but we know it will be amazing! We’re so glad we got the chance to know you and photograph your love!
