11 Nov Olivia + Mike | a Dressy Engagement in Memphis

When Olivia and I were planning her engagement session, she went back and forth on outfit options. I usually recommend one dressy outfit and one casual outfit for our AHP couples, to give them some diversity in their images. But when Olivia said, “we love dressing up and we’re just not casual people,” I knew dressy was the way to go for both outfits! Above all, we want our images to represent our couples, so letting them be them was a priority!

I’m so glad we decided to go this route because not only do I secretly love a dressy engagement, but Olivia is a fashionista! Both of her outfits looked amazing on her and were so fun to photograph! They also subtly said “bride,” which is perfect for an engagement session.

Olivia used to live in downtown Memphis, so she and Mike spent quite a lot of their engagement there. They still love exploring downtown, especially on Sundays, and Sunday brunch downtown is one of their favorite things to do together. So it was only natural that we capture their engagement downtown, as it is such an significant part of their love story.

Olivia’s ring is a gorgeous antique! And it photographs so beautifully!

Olivia told me that they were awkward in photos, but I never saw it! They were both pros from the beginning.

After a quick change into their second outfit, we made our way to the river for sunset. One of Olivia’s very favorite things to do is watch the sun over the river, and we can’t argue with that!

I love downtown Memphis when the lights just start coming on!

Olivia and Mike, thank you so much for spending an evening with us! We really enjoyed getting to know you both, and your differences and similarities. You truly make each other better, and I know that will go a long way in your marriage. We can’t wait for the wedding later this month!!
