29 May april + reggie: a downtown memphis 1920’s cigar engagement

I absolutely adore it when a couple gets involved with planning their engagement shoot so that we can capture something truly unique! April and Reggie knew early in their wedding planning that photography was very important to them. They are no ordinary couple, so when it came time to plan their engagement photos, they wanted something extra special.

I collaborated closely with April and Andria Lewis, their wedding planner, to create something meaningful to them. April and Reggie love to dress up and go out, and Reggie is particularly fond of cigars. April really wanted a dressed-up, sexy, 1920’s scene at a swanky bar. I knew right away that this idea was right down my alley! We decided on the lounge at Bleu (who were wonderful to work with!), and it was the perfect place to set our scene!

I loved all April’s wardrobe details! Sparkles are always good.

At this point, Reggie said that if we really wanted to get photos of who he truly was, then we needed to go get fried catfish at Blues City Cafe. Then we would see him in his element! So after a change of clothes, we did just that.

April and Reggie, we had so much fun with you, getting to know you, and doing this shoot! I love the idea, from conception to reality, and I’m thrilled with how it turned out. Thank you for embracing your uniqueness and for your willingness to try something different. We had a blast!
