09 Oct candace + adam: promised. a downtown memphis engagement.
It depends on who is asking. They have multiple answers to the inevitable question how did you meet? Sometimes it’s work related. Sometimes it’s a setup by friends. Sometimes it’s even church. But the truth is that Candace and Adam met in a bar. And not just any bar, but a bar on Memphis’ infamous Beale Street.
Giving up on dating for the moment, Candace was intent on just enjoying a simple weekend out. With the music thumping, and surrounded by neon, Candace looked up and saw Adam standing near the bar. Perhaps it was the nonchalant way she approached the night, or maybe it was the cocktails, but Candace, knowing she had nothing to lose, smiled and waved a casual hello.
Adam walked over, introduced himself, and their fate was sealed. Candace knew he was the one for her when she continued to go out with him, despite her uncanny attraction for bad dates. After enduring a carriage ride among a booming loud parade, food poisoning after a romantic dinner, and an exhausting downtown race that was supposed to be more about sight-seeing and less about competition, Adam finally took Candace on the date she’ll never forget, where, with the help of the Orpheum marquee, he asked her to marry him. And she will gladly tell anyone that she said yes. No matter who is asking.
Ed and I met Candace and Adam downtown at the Orpheum Theatre for their engagement shoot. On the night of his proposal, the marquee read Will You Marry Me, Candace? but I thought In The Mood was also appropriate!
I love how comfortable they are with each other. No one else can bring out those smiles!
Then it was a trip down Memory Lane, or Beale Street in this case!
Love.
My favorite! I love the energy of Beale.
Adam’s feelings for Candace are written all over his face. Love that!
Another favorite! This was right about when a random tourist joined our photo session by taking pictures with his point and shoot right. over. my. shoulder. No kidding.
Yes, I know. They’re adorable.
Love this shot that Ed got of Adam admiring his future bride!
I can never pass up a good brick wall.
After an outfit change, we made our way to the Madison Hotel to take advantage of the sunset over the river.
Adam, I can see why you caught Candace’s eye! You have an amazing smile. Ed’s photo on the right.
A few more kisses before the sun goes down.
Candace and Adam, thank you so much for spending the evening with us! We had so much fun getting to know you! Who knew that the Madison rooftop had a bar? We could have chatted with you all night. Let’s do it again soon!
