29 Jul Keith + Joe | an Athens UGA Engagement

Keith and Joe met at the UGA Law School. While they both attended different schools previously, they each wound up at UGA at the same time. Over the course of their three years there so far, they fell in love, and they will be getting married in Memphis in two weeks! Since Athens is such a big part of their lives now, we all really wanted to do their engagement session there. So Ed and I traveled to Athens (just a few days after spending a week in Georgia ourselves!) to document this special times in their lives. I’m so glad we did! Not only did we get tons of amazing photos, but we got to spend a weekend in a lovely Georgian town, and soak up the college culture!

I knew I would love Keith and Joe right away when I heard that they got engaged in Savannah! They have been to Savannah twice together. The first time was early in their relationship when they went to visit a friend. The second time, Joe proposed! Playing up the romance, he took Keith on a carriage ride. When they went through Lafayette Square, the tour guide said it was good luck to kiss in front of the fountain, so they got out to do so. Joe asked a passerby to take their photo, and as they posed for the camera, Joe got down on his knee and surprised her! The stranger took several photos that turned out pretty well, especially considering she had never used an iPhone camera!

We met Keith and Joe in front of the Law School for their UGA engagement session. The campus is gorgeous, and Keith and Joe knew all the little hidden spots that were perfect for photos!

Keith and Joe are so natural in front of the camera! He told me, “if you’ll let us, we can be pretty cute together.” He wasn’t kidding! We had such a great time with these two!

The campus has this little hidden garden that we never would have found without tour guides! This was my favorite spot!!

We took a break inside the law library to cool off and change. Because they spend so much time here, we wanted to make sure to get a few shots of Keith and Joe in the library. It even had a courtroom that we had to use!

To finish up the session, we crossed the street to downtown Athens. After they wed, the happy couple will be living here, so the area is really important to them. They love that it’s so close to the school and has lots of little restaurants and shops they visit regularly.

Keith and Joe, thank you so much for hosting us in your beautiful city! We are so excited that we got to shoot in Athens, and document the places that you will begin married life together. We had so much fun getting to know you both, and I know the wedding will be amazing!
